Churches together on Temple Hill
The Christian presence on Temple Hill is rich and fertile; it is made up of a variety of Christians, including St Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, the Temple Hill Baptist Church, the Bridge Community Methodist's Church, and the Church of England Parish known as St Edmund's Temple Hill. Along with everyone else who is Christian and lives on Temple Hill, we try to respond generously to the gospel calling to hospitality and fellowship.
We do that in a variety of ways. The clergy meet regularly from the different churches, praying together and sharing lunch. During the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the Churches organise a Service of Unity and Prayer that is organised and hosted by one of the Churches each year. They also pop along to each others services and events throughout the year. A joint service is celebrated on Temple Hill Square on Palm Sunday in which we listen to the Palm Gospel and distribute palms reenacting the moment Jesus entered through the gates of Jerusalem on a donkey. In the summer months they organise a Fun Day on Temple Hill Square which is open to all the residents of Temple Hill and to family and friends.
If you want to be involved in any of this work, do please speak to one of the clergy from St Edmund's or the other Churches.
